Discussion Forums Terms of Use

  1. Our discussion forum is moderated by Dr  Dominic Cooper. It’s his role to make sure that the ‘Acceptable use guidelines’ are followed by everyone who uses the forums.

Acceptable use guidelines

  1. By registering for the discussion forums, you agree to follow the guidelines listed here, as well as the terms of use for our site.

  2. The forums are for professional discussion and debate of workplace health and safety issues, particularly Behavioral Safety. Make sure that your posting is appropriate and relevant. If a thread deviates from these topics or strays significantly from the original question, it may be locked. This is at the moderators’ discretion.

  3. You must not antagonise other users of this service or post any information that could be considered defamatory, obscene, abusive or unlawful. The forums should not be used to exchange material protected by copyright law. You may be held liable for the content you post.

  4. You must not use the forums for any commercial purpose (including the advertising of jobs, goods and services), or operate surveys, contests or chain letters, or promote causes or campaigns. If you’re offering employment opportunities, you should make direct contact with the person who is seeking work. If you’re seeking work, you should make your email address visible.

  5. You must not use the forums to make complaints against any individual or organisation. We’re not trying to stifle debate but to protect BSMS Inc from being accused of encouraging unwarranted attacks on others. Discussion about comments made by public figures on health and safety topics may be allowed at the discretion of the moderator.

  6. You must not indulge in bullying behaviour towards other users.

  7. Remember that our forum is used by millions of people worldwide. When you respond to a question, take into account legislation, cultural differences and language (for example, English may not be the first language of other subscribers participating in the forum). Humour often doesn’t translate across cultural boundaries and its use may not be appropriate.

  8. If the moderator perceives that your message has broken these guidelines, it will be removed. Where possible, you will be informed your message is unacceptable and why. If you’ve been warned in this way more than twice, on the third occasion, your access will be blocked.

  9. If you’re not sure whether a message is appropriate, please ask Dr Dominic Cooper before posting.

  10. Your account will be blocked if your forum  name:

    • contains website or email addresses
    • contains contact information, e.g. a phone number or postcode
    • appears to impersonate someone else
    • contains swear words or is otherwise objectionable.

  11. The decision of the moderator on interpretation of the guidelines is final.

  12. BSMS Inc reserves the right to remove entirely at our discretion any contribution you post.

Discussion forums and email addresses

  1. If you reveal your address you may open yourself up to a lot of email. If you want to show your email address, we recommend that you consider setting up an email account specifically for using on the Internet.

Children 16 and under

  1. Children of 16 years and under are not allowed to post messages on the BSMS Inc website.

Law

  1. You agree that Indiana law shall apply to these terms and to submit to the jurisdiction of the Indiana courts if a dispute arises. We aim to ensure our Site complies with Indiana Law but not the laws of any other country or state. If there is anything on the Site that you are not allowed under the laws to which you are subject to access or see, cease using the Site immediately.
